V. James “Jim” Adduci II

More than four decades at the intersection of international trade law and the U.S. International Trade Commission.

V. James “Jim” Adduci II is a nationally recognized international trade attorney whose career spans more than four decades at the forefront of Section 337 practice before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).

Jim was the founding partner of Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg, LLP (AMS), a Washington, D.C.-based law firm focused on international trade matters, and served as its managing partner from 1981 until 2019. Annually recognized as a leader in the field of Section 337 litigation before the ITC, AMS built the largest collection of international trade attorneys specializing in Section 337 practice under one roof, with its attorneys participating in nearly a quarter of the first 850 Section 337 investigations filed before the Commission. In his practice, Jim advises a diverse group of clients on international trade and international commercial transactions, and represents parties in cases involving all of the major trade statutes before various government agencies and the courts.

Prior to entering private practice, Jim served as legal counsel to the ITC, where he dealt with all matters within the Commission's jurisdiction, including unfair competition cases under Section 337, antidumping and countervailing duty actions, and escape clause proceedings. He was appointed by the U.S. Trade Representative as a member of the U.S. delegation to the Multilateral Trade Negotiations (Tokyo Round) in Geneva, where he was principally involved in negotiations concerning import safeguards.

Jim and his firm received local and national recognition for their work in international trade and Section 337 litigation from publications such as Corporate Counsel, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, The Legal 500, IP Law & Business, Washingtonian Magazine, Managing Intellectual Property, and Super Lawyers.

Jim has served on the board of directors of several major multinational corporations. He lectures and publishes articles on various international trade issues, including international finance and investment and intellectual property protection.
